From October 9th to 12th, our university, in collaboration with the Primorsky Krai Division of the Union of Journalists of Russia, hosted the "Bridge of Literature: Face-to-Face" forum as part of the "Russian Pacific Region Literature Festival" Asia-Pacific Countries Touring Forum. President Han Ye attended the forum. The forum was co-chaired by Wang Jinling, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and the Silk Road Institute at our university, and Alexander Nikolaevich Zubritskiy, President of the Association of Russian Language and Literature Teachers in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Since its founding in 2018 in Vladivostok, the "Russian Pacific Region Literature Festival" has become an important cultural event and a vital platform for literary exchange, appreciation, and sharing in the Russian Far East. This forum brought together numerous prominent figures from the fields of literature, education, and publishing in both China and Russia, including Viktor Andreevich Sukhanov, Chair of the Primorsky Krai Division of the Union of Journalists of Russia and Chair of the Festival Organizing Committee; Ren Bai, Vice President of the Jilin Provincial Writers Association; and faculty and distinguished students from universities such as Jilin University and Northeast Normal University. As the opening event of the forum’s tour in China, this forum not only highlighted our university’s strong foundation in Russian academic and cultural exchange but also brought new vitality and momentum into the field of Sino-Russian literary exchange.

At the opening ceremony, President Han Ye introduced our university’s achievements in humanistic cooperation with Russia’s Far East region, emphasizing the significance of such exchange activities in deepening Sino-Russian friendship and expanding areas of cooperation. President Han expressed his hope that participants would seize the opportunity for face-to-face exchanges with Chinese and Russian scholars to initiate substantive and in-depth collaborations. He also encouraged students to put in more effort to continuously improve their Russian language skills and enhance their bilingual expression and literary competence.

In the discussion session, both sides focused on several key topics, including cooperation in the humanities, the Russian national spirit, ethical literary criticism, the art and challenges of literary translation, successfully implemented Sino-Russia projects, the prospects for cooperation in the book publishing sector, and the experiences of foreign authors participating in the Far East Literary Award. Writers and publishers from Russia's Far East, along with faculty and student representatives from universities in Jilin Province, engaged in lively discussions on the role of literature in strengthening Sino-Russia relations.

Ren Bai introduced the current state of contemporary Chinese literature and particularly recommended the nature literature works of two Chinese writers, Hu Donglin and Wei An. Both sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on how to use new media technologies and multimodal expressions to present the connotations of literary works in innovative ways, and explore new models for interacting with readers, thereby expanding the reach and influence of literature.

The university also hosted an exhibition of Russian literary works, showcasing the achievements of our Russian language team in literary translation projects over the years, providing attendees with a window into Russian literary works.

This forum has established a new bridge for Sino-Russian literary exchanges, injecting new vitality into our university's Russian translation master's program and undergraduate translation talent cultivation. Students have gained more opportunities to engage with the latest trends and popular works in Russian literature, enriching their learning experience. Scholars from both China and Russia exchanged valuable experiences in literary cooperation, and together explored the vast potential for collaboration in literary translation and Sino-Russian book publishing.
